PRIMA — spheroidal geodesy calculator
A web version of PRIMA, a DOS teaching program written in the 1990s by geodesy students at DonNTU (Donetsk, Ukraine). It solves the classical problems of spheroidal geodesy on the Krasovsky 1940 ellipsoid: radii of curvature, meridian and parallel arcs, map sheet frames and areas, the direct and inverse geodetic problems and Gauss–Krüger coordinates. The formulas were recovered from the original executable, and the results match it digit for digit.
Map sheet calculator
A web version of Mobile Range Maps Finder, my Android app from 2015. For a point in WGS 84 it gives the names of the topographic map sheets that cover it, from 1:1 000 000 down to 1:10 000, in the Soviet nomenclature, including the joined sheets used beyond 60° latitude. The results are checked against an exact reference implementation and against published nomenclature examples.
